Hari Om Parents,
With Gurdev and Swmiji's blessing we commenced Bala Vihar (on Premise) for the year 2022-2023. We started the session with prayers and then did a quick round of introductions starting with introducing ourselves and then getting to know the youths.
We reviewed the curriculum for this year , The key topics that would be covered this year are
1. Symbolism in Hinduism - Lord Ganesha, Shiva, Vishnu, Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswati
2. Yato Dharmah Tato Jayah
We breifly discussed the meaning and content of Yato Dharmah Tato Jayah . The key points as part of this topic we plan to cover are as follows:
- What is Karma?
- The story of the Mahabharata and characteristics of the main characters
- Morals through thought provoking questions/answers of Yaksha Prashana
- What is Dharma?
- How to live by Dharma to succeed in the world
- We explain Sanatana Dharma values as given by Manu Bhagavan
We would also cover the singing and the meaning of the bhajana - Vaishnava janato.
The reference book that we plan to use this year is the Mahabharatha book by C Rajagopalachari - This can be purchased from Amazon
Being the first day of the class we started the class with a simple instruction and demonstration of a hand sketch of Lord Ganesh and explained the symbolic description of his form.
We were happy to meet some of you who made it to the class and look forward to working with you and your kids for the rest of the year. For those that could not make it yesterday feel free to stop by in the next class.
