September 18th 2022 Class Summary
Welcome to Sunday AM Grade-2 Balavihar 2022-23 at Chinmaya Vrundavan.
- We started our first class with 16 enthusiastic 2nd graders.
- We started with introducing ourselves with our names, favorite color and favorite animal. It was interesting to know kids had favorite animals ranging from ants to elephants to python!!
- We all sat Criss-cross and back straight. With folded hands and closed eyes, we chanted OM 3 times.
- Most of the students were familiar with the 3 opening prayers. Kids took turns leading the prayers
- 'Sahanaavavatu Sahanaubhunakthu..' was lead by Anika
- 'Vakratunda Mahakaya..' was lead by Vishnu
- 'Saraswati Namastubhyam..' was lead by Siya
- We all stood up and did some stretching. Students came up with different exercises. Jumping jacks, push-ups, squats, planks, Tree-pose.
- Sat back on the floor, discussed about different kinds of animals on this planet. Animals with and without backbones.
- We did an activity to explain the importance of having a strong invisible backbone.
- We put a thread and a wooden ruler on the floor. Kids tried blowing them. With a slight blow, string flew away and ruler did not move even with the collective effort by many kids trying to blow it.
- Then came Hero of our class - Lord Hanumanji.
- Kids did Hanumanji coloring.
- We let parents know about 2 books we need to have for our class. Superman Hanuman ( Hanuman Chalisa book) and the coloring book.
- These are the things we will be working on this year.
- Hanumanji Dhyana Shloka - 1 Shloka
- Hanuman Chalisa 40 Shlokas
- chapter-3 Bhagavadgeetha 16 Shlokas
- Stories, Bhajans, Games.
