We began our class with opening prayers. We summarised the 6 Sharipus for the kids - Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Mada, MAtsarya and Moha. We then began the narration of the Ramayana with the story of Valmiki, his meeting of Narada and the death of the cranes when he cursed the hunter in poetic form.
He was then given a boon by Lord Brahma himself that he would be able to know all that there was to know and see about the life of Lord Rama until that moment. He wrote the Ramayana that was then sung by the twin boys Luv and Khush in the court of Lord Rama himself.
Rama was born to King Dasharatha of Ayodhya after he performed the Putrakameshti yagna. Rama's siblings were Bharata, Laxmana and Shatrugna. As they grew, Dasharatha's fondness for his oldest son was no secret.
We then did a class activity where the kids were divided into groups and had to discuss the meaning of happiness and success based on an activity from the book, "Keys to Success."
We then completed Geeta Chanting and closing prayers.
