- Amba wanted to take revenge on Bheeshma. She did tapas towards Lord Karthikeya. Lord Karthikeya gave her a garland of lotus flowers and told her that the one who wears this garland and fights Bheeshma, will defeat Bheeshma
- Amba went to the Guru of Bheeshma, Parashurama and requested him to fight Bheeshma
- Bheeshma could not be defeated by Parashurama
- Amba did tapas towards Lord Shiva and got a boon that she will be the cause of Bheeshma's death in her next birth. Amba went into the fire from the tapas.
