Hari Om!
It was great to see the children after Deepavali break! Here is the class update for the week:
Stotram: We chanted devi dhyAna shloka and completed upto verse 8 of Mahalakshmi Ashtakam.
India, Sacred Land: It was a good discussion on India's freedom struggle- we traced the beginnings of the East India Company and how the trading partners slowly assumed administrative control of the country. We looked into how Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi's work for the downtrodden in South Africa also informed his grass roots organisation of the people in India to fight against the British. We covered the Dandi Salt March and the principles of non-violence and civil disobedience that Gandhiji widely used to protest British rule. We also learned about Rabindranath Tagore and his contribution to the world of Bengali and English literature.
Bhagavad Geeta, Chapter 3: We learnt verses 5 and 6 this week - verses 5 and 6
Houses Inaugural: We had the official introduction for the year of the Houses and the various House activities for the year - Shlokathon, Likhita Japa, Storytelling/Oratorical Contest and Bhajanotsavam! The theme for this year is "Bhakti". The children worked on a simple and fun activity to earn points for the House.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
Thanks,
