Oct 9, 2022 - Grade 7 (Sunday PM)

Hari Om,

"Where do books sleep?"  The class gave very good answers. Library, bookshelf, classroom, and so on. But to know the right answer stay tuned.

We started with a breathing exercise, chanted OM, and recited morning prayers.

Most of the kids bought the Ramayana book and a few of them said they started reading it already which is very encouraging.  We quizzed kids on the story and characters we talked about in the last class.

After a quick refresher of the story about Vasista, King Vishwamitra, and the fight for the holy cow Sabala, we continued the story about the transition of King Vishwamitra to Rajarshi and then Brahmarshi.  We touched upon the saying "Anger is the worst enemy."  Another story we covered in class is about King Trishanku.

Trishanku is commonly referred to through mention of "Trishanku's heaven" or "hanging like Trishanku". The word Trishanku has come to denote a middle ground or limbo between one's goals or desires and one's current state or possessions.

The answer to our class riddle is – "under the covers".

The riddle is meant to encourage kids to open the new book cover and read it.

Keep encouraging kids to practice daily prayers and read a chapter of Ramayana every day.

Thanks,

Vyjayanti and Kalyani
