Hari Om parents,
Hope everyone is doing well. Here is the summary of last class -
1. We started our class with 3 OM's and our beginning prayer Om sahana vavathu followed by prayers for Lord Ganesha, Devi Saraswati and our Guru.
2. We also chanted the first 5 verses of our Guru stotram.
3. We reviewed our story about King Parikshit and how he was cursed by Rishi Srngi when he put a dead snake on the neck of Rishi Samika (Rishi Srngi's father) when he was in deep meditation. Srngi was very angry and sad at the insult of his father. When Rishi Samika completed his meditation, he did not congratulate his son but was unhappy at his son's behavior and scolded him. He told him that Parikshit was one of the greatest kings shouldering a lot of responsibilities. He had come to the ashram for rest and refreshment and didn't mean harm. One wrong cannot be set right by another. He was in fact full of divine love for the king as he saw that the king was a good, kind and just king. The king returned feeling very bad about his foolish act that resulted from frustration, hunger and anger. We continued the story and talked about how Parikshit handed over his kingdom to his son Janamejaya and went to live in the banks of the Ganga where he was ready to face his death peacefully, with his mind fixed on Bhagawan. We began to talk about King Parikshit's meeting with young sage Sukhadeva - the son of Rishi Vyasa.
4. We brainstormed about - One wrong act cannot be set right by another wrong act. The class unanimously wanted to seek revenge if they had been wronged. But we talked about ways to forgive, accept and understand the right action rather than revenge.
5. We chanted Gita verses and also did a 2 minute meditation game that the kids really enjoyed.
We are going to have some special guests who will be conducting class on Sunday Nov 20. I am sure the kids are going to have a great time.
Regards,
Chitra & Rupa
