Hari Om Parents,
Today was the sixth class of Balavihar!! Here is the summary of what we covered in the class today:
Opening Prayers: We together chanted three OMs and then chanted the Opening Prayers - Sahana Vavatu.
Sloka time : Some kids chanted Ganesh Sloka-Ekadantam Mahakayam individually.
Recap of last class : We went over the Coloring sheets, provided for each letter learnt so far, and some of the kids used vibrant colors. We discussed the 3 monkeys coloring picture and what we mean by Cleanliness and what a Clean mind is and how it leads to a Sweet mind.
Introduction of the Alphabet Chant : We learnt the Alphabet chant - Clap Clap,

C is for Cleanliness
Introduction of the Letter of the day : Letter 'D' is for Daddy and Dad's are "kind," "loving," "caring," "wise," "protective," "strong," and have similar qualities as God, hence we revere them as God.
Brainstorming Kids told the various things their Dad's do for them which shows their love and care. And that the Almighty God is our Eternal father and takes care of all of us. And kids were asked to say to their dad - 'Pitru Devo Bhava' and explained that 'Pitru' in this context refers to their 'Daddy'. and other meaning is our ancestors.
Activity : We went over the 'Interview with Dad Questionnaire' and we got interesting responses. Kids were excited and happily shared the details of what they do with their Dad.
And then we discussed about Likitha Japa, Kids were provided LIkitha Japa book and asked to write the name of their favorite God every day for few minutes (some number of times). This will help obtain points for the Krishna Cowboys house.
Introduction of Bhagvad Geeta: We gave a brief description of Mahabharata and Bhagvad Geeta and explained why its important even in today's life, and what we can learn trom it. We mentioned that this year we will be learning Chapter 3, Karma Yoga. And then we played the BG verse 1 video and explained it word by word to the kids. And then we repeated it together couple of times. Couple of kids attend Geeta chanting classes and one kid chanted verse 1 very well without any mistakes.
Attendance : Each kid responded by saying Hari Om when their name was called.
Yoga time :After this we did Jumping Jacks, Stretches and Lion pose.
Lastly we said the closing prayers and concluded the session.
Note: Next class is on Nov 20th, 2022. We will share the Bhagvad Geeta videos, please make kids practice. And get them to do some Likitha Japa - both these activities will help in obtaining points for the House.
It was another very great session with kids, kids participated very well. Kids spoke about the costumes they wore for Halloween and about the candies they got. Have a wonderful week ahead!!
