Dec 16, 2022 - Grade 2 (Friday)

Hari Om Parents!

Here is a summary of what we have covered in Balavihar so far this year:

Opening Prayers:
We open every class with three Oms, invoke the blessings of Lord Ganesha, Goddess Sarawathi, and our Gurus by chanting:
Om Shree Ganeshaya Namah
Om Shree Saraswathyai Namah
Om Shree Sadgurubhyoh Namah
Following this, we chant Sahanavavatu, and the following prayers:
Vakratunda Mahakaya
Saraswati Namastubhyam
Guru Brahma Guru Vishnu
Shubham Karoti
Shree Rama Rama Rameti
Karagre Vasate
And most importantly, Hanuman Dhyana Shloka (Buddhir Balam)

As our topic this year is Hanuman the Superman, we have spent the last few months covering Buddhir Balam, and the meanings of all the words. These are qualities of Hanuman that we all pray to emulate in our own lives. Up until now, we have covered the whole Dhyana shloka and its meanings.
Buddhir balam yasho dhairyam nirbhayatvam arogata
Ajaadyam vaakpatuthvam cha hanumat smaranaat bhavet
Buddhi: Intelligence
Balam: Strength
Yashas: Fame
Dhairyam: Courage
Nirbhayatvam: Fearlessness
Arogata: Good health / free from diseases
Ajaadyam: Alertness
Vaakpatuthvam: Eloquence

As a part of learning this shloka, we have all completed a craft of Hanuman's backbone/spine, showing all of these qualities.

Bhagavad Gita:
As of last week, we have covered verses 1-10 in Chapter 3 of the Gita, and have thoroughly practiced verses 1-6. Please encourage the children to keep practicing the Gita verses we have covered.

See you all in the new year on January 6, 2023!
Hari Om,
