Parents,
Hari Om!
Bala Vihar session on the 18th of December:
With quite a few kids transferring to other sessions, and a few others absent, the attendance for this session was very sparse.
Shlokas:
As always, the session started with the class chanting Om. Then the kids recited Sahana vavatu, and other prayers from the "My Prayers" book. They also recited shlokas from "Mahalakshmi Ashtakam".
Mahabharata:
Since we had JCHYKs visiting us, we did not cover Mahabharata during this session.
JCHYK visit:
We had the pleasure of having JCHYKs in our session. They talked about various ethnic games of India like Kabaddi and Kho Kho. They divided the class into two groups and played a board game with dice. From the laughter in the class, it was obvious that the kids had a great time during this part of the session
India, the Sacred Land:
We continued our discourse on the languages of India. Then we talked about the Indian Lunar calendar and the Sanskrit names of the twelve months along with their corresponding English names. We also talked about the six seasons (rutus) of India. We then went on to cover the contributions of Indians in the fields of literature, mathematics and sciences. The class also learned about Surya Namaskar and practiced it a few times.
Gita chanting:
The class chanted verses from Bhagavad Gita, following along Swamiji on the TV.
As always, the session ended in the prayer hall, with the recital of the Pledge and Aarti.
