Hari Om Parents,
Today was the ninth class of Balavihar!! Here is the summary of what we covered in the class today:
Opening Prayers: We together chanted three OMs and then chanted the Opening Prayers - Sahana Vavatu.
Sloka time: Most kids chanted Ganesh Sloka-Ekadantam Mahakayam individually and we chanted Krishna Sloka - Mukam Karoti Vachalam a couple of times together
Activity: Happy Train Ride -we took the Happy Train Ride and went together like a train around the classroom and went to different stations(like Candy land, Amusement park,Doctor Office,Pizza place etc) and learned not to become unhappy when we did not reach the desired destination.
Bhagavad Geeta Chanting: Then we chanted BG Ch3 verse 1/ verse 2 and we practised Couple of times word by word.
Attendance: Each kid responded by saying Hari Om when their name was called.
Note: Next class is on Jan 08th, 2023. Please make kids practice BG verses 1 and 2 and Bhajans(Ganesha and Krishna).
It was another very collaborative session with kids. We learnt two letters H and I today. Kids happily participated. Please make kids write in the Likitha japa book,it will be checked in the next class by the Balavihar house team.

Alphabet Chant : We did the alphabet chant together until the Letter G
Introduction the Next Letter: Letter 'H' is for Happiness- is a state of the mind and is actually not related to any object or person.
Brainstorming : We discussed various instances which made us happy and sad. And explained that Happiness is a state of the mind and is actually not related to any object or person.It we who choose to be happy or sad.
Exploration: Through various examples, we explained that we should be content with what we have and be happy in all situations and always encourage happy thoughts.

Yoga time : We did the Butterfly pose and flew to the Icecream shop and got our favorite ice creams.
Introduction of the Next Letter: We introduced the next letter I - stands for Intelligence and that Intelligence is the mental ability of understanding and learning new facts.
Brainstorming: Kids were asked questions on what is mind? What is Intellect? and explained that Intellect helps us decide what is right and what is wrong and our Mind helps us recognize specific objects or situations. And that our intellect gives us good advice; but, to become a good person, we must also learn to listen to our intellect, just as we listen to our parents.
Exploration: We learnt the difference between humans and animals is that humans possess a well developed mind and an intellect, while animals do not. And that we need to use our Intellect wisely by making the right choices. We discussed a few situations on how our intellect helps us in making the right decisions. And discussed that the Elephant uses its long trunk to distinguish between right and wrong. And some animals possess special abilities like dogs, swans etc.
Story time: One of the kids told the story of the Celestial Fruit, through which we learnt that, you use your intellect, to become victorious.And through the story of the monkeys and the Hat seller we learnt how the hat seller used his wit and got back his hats from the monkeys.
Attendance: Each kid responded by saying Hari Om when their name was called.
Activity: Kids were provided the Coloring Sheets for H and I and asked to color, which most kids completed in class itself.
