Kids have printouts of the above. Please have them practice at home.
Krishna Krishna Everywhere
We started our Krishna's story with the recapping of the concept of 'Sharing is Caring'.
Just as Little Krishna used to share his butter with friends and animals we discussed the importance of sharing and how it could be practiced in our daily lives.
Then we went ahead with the stories of
- Krishna eating dirt and when Mother Yashoda asks him to open his mouth she sees the entire universe in him and realizes that the little Krishna in her house was none other than the Lord Himself. But the Lord makes her forget everything because he wants to make sure that he gets all the aspects of motherly love and affection.
- Krishna being tied to a big mortar by Mother Yashoda for his mischief and how he pulls it through 2 big trees and uproots them thereby releasing two celestial beings (sons of Kubera, god of wealth) and freeing them from the curse of Sage Narada.
We discussed how the Lord cannot be tied by rope but can be bound by the love of a devotee.
My 24 teachers
Our 6th teacher from this book is Moon.
The Moon appears to be changing with time, from new moon to full moon in a span of 30 days though really speaking there is no change to its actual size.
- What the Moon teaches us is, though everything in this world is changing, including our bodies from time to time the indwelling BHAGAWAN or the SELF is unchanging.
- We talked about remaining balanced in good and bad times.
- When everything in our life is looking up we need to thank God for the good time and when circumstances change and everything is looking down on us then also we need to thank God and stay calm with the attitude of, 'This too shall Pass'
Bhagavad Gita
We learnt the 7th and 8th verses of Chapter 3 with Swamiji's guidance video.
We recorded the kid's chanting of the first 6 verses.
We were elated to see a few memorizers in our class.
Activity
As part of the activity, we played a small game on the lines of Matka Phod. We filled a basket with candies placed on the table and asked each kid to knock it off with a small ball.
Whoever succeeds in making the basket fall and spills the candies will be sharing the treat with the rest of the class. Kids had fun playing this game and also learning the value of sharing simultaneously.
