Dec 4, 2022 - JCHYK Gr. 10-12 (Sunday PM)

Hari Om! Everyone,

This past week, after our Invocation and Meditation session, we spent time going over several important announcements. These were:

1) Make sure to contact the teachers of the younger BV grade that you have chosen to teach next week in order to be prepared with the subject matter they would like you to present. (A number of students attended class today who had not been present in earlier weeks, so we needed to take time to explain the teaching program to them and have them choose a younger grade & take their teachers' contact addresses).

2) Please bring $15 next week to purchase the Self-Unfoldment book we will be using in class soon. Reminder to bring a notebook, BV folder and pen or pencil EVERY week!

3) Announcement re: Christmas Camp with Br. Soham Chaitanya from San Jose. J-Chyks are invited to be a part of the planning and/or to attend the Camp. (Full information & contacts have been sent to our J-Chyk students via a separate email from myself).

After announcements, we began with learning a new song (in English & Hindi): "The Ring Song" on Hanumanji.

Following this, we resumed viewing, reading and discussing our Bhagavad Gita Slides as a continued review of Chapter 1-6. We particularly discussed the connection between Bhagavan's definitions of Yoga as Balance of mind (evenness, samatvam), Karma-Yoga and Skill in Action, and how the attitude of dedication gives us greater balance of mind (in regard to success & failure, etc.) and therefore enables us to give full attention to our actions and to do our work well.

Our day finished with Aarati and Pledge in the Temple.

Since last Sunday, we were informed that BV classes are cancelled for Dec. 11 due to the Fundraiser dinner on the evening of the Dec. 10, so the plan for our class to teach the younger grades is postponed till the following week of Sunday, December 18. We will meet in our class first for Invocation/Meditation before students head out to teach in their respective classrooms.

Look forward to seeing you all then!

Hari Om!
