Hari Om Parents
We started our class with Likhitha Jaapa, followed by our daily prayers and Ganesh Pancharatnam.
We started off on our next Book Indian the Sacred land. We talked about what a sacred land means and why is India called a sacred land? What makes something sacred?
We discussed how and why the name India was given to India, why the religion was named Hindu/Hinduism. Our way of religion is called was Vedic dharma or sanatana dharma. People from the Far East who came to trade into Bharat called everyone living on the other side of Hindukush Mountains as Hindus and the religion they followed as Hinduism. The name India was given by Britishers when they started to rule. Usually when someone rules or takes you as slave the first thing which is done is to eradicate your name and origin and that was what happened with India as well. We later discussed how many vedas are there and what they contain. We watched a short video clip on what are the different vedas(Yajur veda, Sama veda Atharva Veda, Rig Veda) and what are puranas or epics like Ramayana, Mahabaratha and Bhagavatham. We also discussed different places in India like Tirumala,Kanchi,Konark and their significance like the Konark temple having a sun-dial. We concluded our class with our Gita chanting , kids practised until verses 1-12 and learnt new verses 13-14. It was about time to leave for our Aarthi to the prayer hall.
