Jan 22, 2023 - Grade 3 (Sunday PM)

Hari OM Parents,

Please find the summary of today's class.

We started the class by chanting OM 3 times followed by morning prayers - "Sahanaavathu". We continued practicing Guru Stotram. Children took turns to chant verses 1 through 7.  We practiced new sloka #8.

We did a quick recap of Dhruva's story and mind the genie story.

Bala Bhagavatam - Story of Prithu

We covered King Prithu's story and learned hard work leads to prosperity. We have to sow seeds to grow fruits...sow seeds for whatever you desire, and work hard! King Prithu's kingdom, which was once very prosperous suffered famine- because the people had become tamasic or lazy. With the King's guidance, they started sowing the seeds and worked hard and became happy again!

Earth gives us everything. What is our duty towards Mother Earth? Producing more than what we consume and giving more than what we take.

Bala Bhagavatam – Teachings of Sanat Kumaras

One day the four Sanat Kumaras visited King Prithu.  They taught him that true love for God can be developed by:

·       Having faith and reverence

·       Wanting to know the truth

·       Keeping up spiritual practices

·       Keeping away from worldly things

·       Learning to love solitude and quiet

·       Being kind and truthful

·       Controlling the senses and passions

·       Studying the scriptures

·       Revering the holy sages and saints

·       Singing constantly the praise and glory of God

In the ocean of the world, there are six sharks: Lust, Anger, Pride, Greed, Delusion and Jealousy. If you accept the Lord to be your ferryman, he will take you across the ocean easily and safely.

We should see unity in diversity to get rid of sharks in our mind. Where there is unity, arrogance, anger, lust, jealousy, delusion, and greed do not even arise.

Story of Sarah

We learned how Sarah won two races even though she was disabled, because she had an advantage, which was she had to work harder than others. Hard work led her to winning the race.

Geeta chanting:

We practiced verses 13 and 14 of Geeta chapter 3.

Aarthi

It was the turn of grade 3 students to sing Aarthi songs. In preparation, we practiced Aarthi songs, prayer and pledge in the class.

We concluded the class with Aarthi, prayer, and the Pledge. Kids did a wonderful job singing Aarthi at the temple.

Thanks and warm regards,

Aruna and Subbu
