Hari Om Parents!
Here is the Summary of what we covered in the past two Balavihar class(5th Feb and 12th Feb):
1. We started the class with opening prayer. We chanted 3 OMs and Sahana Vavatu.
2. We also chanted Vakratunda Mahakaya, Saraswati namastubhyam and Guru Brahma shlokas.
3. We sang Atmarama AnandaRamana and we completed the remaining lines in the Bhajan. Please refer to the My Prayers Book - Page 143 and have them sing to you.
4. We chanted the Guru Stotram - Verse 1, 2 & 3 verses- refer My prayers Book page 61. Please have them practice.
5. 12th Feb class - we had our Swamini Radhikananda ji visited us and taught us two bhajans with actions. She played guitar too. We loved the spirit, it brought in the class. Here are the songs: 1) My God is so great 2) Krishna Krishna everywhere.
6. We did meditation to bring mind quietness and concentration.
7. Then we started the Ramayana story with recap of last week and moved to the next stories about:
8. Khara and Dusana story about Surpanaka complains to her brothers and how they both went to fight with Rama and defeated by Rama.
9. Demon Akhambana visit to Lanka to complain about Rama how he killed the Khara, Dusana and the entire army. Highlighting Rama's power and how he can't be defeated just by fight. He told Ravana about Sita's beauty and how proper planning to abduct Sita can bring weakness to Rama.
10. When Ravana went to meet with Maricha , Maricha advised Ravana not to make enmity with Rama by highlighting his story of what happened to him when Rama & Lakshmana came with Viswamitra at age of 12 to fight him.
11. By hearing Maricha, Ravana went back to Lanka convinced. However after few days Surpanaka showed up in his kingdom and blasted him that he did not fight with Rama to take revenge for his siblings loss. Also she talked about the beauty of Sita and how Sita can be a queen of Lanka.
12. Hearing that Ravana's mind started with lust and anger to gain Sita for him. This time he went to Maricha and told clearly that Maricha follows his plan to defeat Rama and take Sita away. Maricha tried his best to again convince Ravana but he had to obey his king so finally he agreed to take a form of golden deer.
13. One of the kid wanted to tell the story of Golden deer and Sita desire to have. So we let him share the story.
14. Then we continued the story of Sita's abduction by Ravana and how Rama, Lakshmana were cheated by Maricha's voice.
15. Finally ended the class with closing prayer and went to arati.
16. Please have the kids to complete the homework of writing names and places from Ramayana till what has been taught.
