Hari OM Parents,

Please find the summary of today's class.

Prayer time:

We started the class by chanting OM 3 times followed by morning prayers - "Sahanaavathu". We continued practicing Guru Stotram. Children took turns to chant verses 1 through 8.  We practiced new slokas #9 through #11.

Recap of previous class

We did a quick recap of Prahlada's story.

Prahlada's qualities

Prahlad means one who is always happy and blissful. Even though he was born to a bad man (asura), Prahlad had divine qualities, that we all must emulate.

·       He had great love and respect for his Gurus especially for those who loved God. He was ever ready to serve great masters.

·       He was always smiling and helpful, all his classmates loved him.

·       He was truthful with a gentle character.

·       He had good self-control (control over his senses).

·       He was always cool and did not get angry or scared.

·       He saw God everywhere in everyone.  He treated everyone equally.

·       He wanted the best for everyone, whether it was a plant, animal or human.

·       The best thing about Prahlad, above all, even though he was rich, popular, and very intelligent, was that he was completely humble. He didn't even have the slightest bit of pride.

Nine Modes of Devotion

Prahlada practiced 9 modes of devotion. We discussed nine modes of devotion and how to adopt/practice them in our daily lives:

1.     Sravanam: Listening to the stories about the Lord

2.     Kirtanam: Singing the glories of the Lord

3.     Smaranam: Remembering the Lord always

4.     Padasevanam: Serving the Lord

5.     Archanam: Worshipping the Lord

6.     Vandanam: Bowing down to the Lord

7.     Dasyam: Being a servant of the Lord

8.     Sakhyam: Loving the Lord as a friend

9.     Atmanivedanam: Surrendering yourself unto the Lord

We practiced for the 26th March class performance. Kids enjoyed reciting their dialogs and enacting their roles.

Geeta chanting:

We practiced verses 21 and 22 of Geeta chapter 3.

We concluded the class with Aarthi, prayer and the Pledge.
