Hari Om,
In this class we continued to highlight the key stories in the Ramayana.
Rama's anger at the ocean for refusing to part ways to let him reach Lanka - we discussed the Law of Nature that cannot be altered for any reason
Nala building the bridge over the ocean with the rocks floating over the water with Lord Rama's name on them. The little squirrel who helps in the building of the bridge is mocked by the monkeys as making too small a contribution until Lord Rama himself picks up the squirrel touched by its seva and gives it its stripes.
Rama and his army reach Lanka and once again Rama attempts peaceful reconciliation that does not work
The war begins and Ravana is shocked with the prowess of the monkey army and Rama and Laxmana. Indrajit, Ravana's son shoots the Naga Pasha and binds the two brothers. As the monkey army panics, Garuda comes to the rescue releasing the effects of the nagas on them. As Rama and Laxmana wreak havoc, Kumbhakarna is woken up and despite his grievance that his older brother had done the wrong thing in bringing Sita to Lanka, he fights for his brother and is killed by Rama.
Ravana is heart broken.
Elements we discussed:
1.Your contribution may seem small to others, but don't undervalue your own effort. When done with devotion, it has a lot of value in the eyes of God.
2. The difference between Satvic Vibhishana and Tamasic Kumbhakarna
3. Kumbhakarna in the beginning is aware of his brothers wrong doings, but the consumption of meat, blood and alcohol darken his mind as well.
We then practised the play
