Recap:
As part of recapping last class' lessons, we quizzed kids on the topics of Yato Dharmah Tato Jayah, Laws of Karma. We also drew a family tree of King Shantanu of Kuru dynasty and went over lessons learnt.
Lesson: Yato Dharmah Tato Jayah
We proceeded with the story. Satyavati had two kids - Chitraangada and Vichitraviriya. Upon the death of Chitraangada, Vichitraviriya was made the King. Since Vichitraviriya was not invited to the swayamvara of Amba, Ambika and Ambalika, Bheeshma brought them to Hastinapura. Amba was in love with King Salva and refused to marry Vichitraviriya. When Bheeshma took her back, Salva rejected her. Amba feeling dejected, took a vow to destroy Bheeshma and left. Ambika and Ambalika married Vichitraviriya. Soon after their marriage, Vichitraviriya died. In order to continue the lineage, Satyavati brought VedaVyasa. Ambika closed her eyes in front of VedaVyasa and hence bore a blind child, Dhrtrashtra; Ambalika turned pale upon seeing VedaVyasa and hence bore Pandu, the pale one. Dissatisfied, Satyavati asked one of them to go again. But the ladies sneaked their maid in and the maid gave birth to Vidura, the wise one.
We had to dismiss the class early because of BV houses inaugural. Children participated with enthusiasm.
Next Class : Nov 4th 2022.
Thanks and Hari Om
