Hari Om Dear Parents,
Here is the update of our third balavihar session: Oct 7th 2022.
We Started out class by greeting the students followed by Likhita Japa , Opening Prayers and attendance.
Symbolism in Hinduism (15 Mins)
We started with a brief summary of the last class and discussed how and what each of the families did on Navratri. We then had a short "match the following" kind of game to help the youths recollect and refresh things done related to Symbolism in the last class.
Yato Dharmah Tato Jayah (40 Mins)
We briefly reviewed the 3 laws of karma that was discussed in the last class. Then we discussed about Dana Dhrama (Subparva of Anushashana Parva - 13th Parva of mahabharata ) where the dialogue between Bhishma Pithama and king Yudishtara is the basis of this chapter on Laws of Karma and the Sins of the body, Speech and Mind. We discussed the 10 Karma's - 3 of the body, 4 of the speech and 3 of the mind - that should be avoided to be a good human Being . We will review the same in the next class briefly before moving further on the topic
Saraswati Puja in the Main Hall (35 Mins)
We assembled in the assembly hall around 8:10 pm and did a joint (with all the Friday session classes) Sarawathi puja led by the temple priest. Each of the youths were given Saraswathi puja items and performed the puja with priest guidance. It would be good to talk about the puja Vidhi with them and their takeaway. Request parents to do so if they can and will talk about this in the next class as well. We concluded the class with the Chinmaya pledge.
House assignment: Every youths is assigned a house which is a cross grade team of youths. This is used in various balavihar related events throughout the year. Request all youths to take this quiz (see link below) to determine the house they would belong to. This information was sent on whatsapp and we still notice a few youths that have not done this yet. Please take a moment to complete this before the next class.
