Hari Om Parents!
The past Sunday (20th Nov) was our 7th class of Balavihar for 2022-2023!
Here is the summary of what we covered in class:
- We started the class with the Opening prayer. We chanted Om three times and then chanted "Sahana vavatu".
- We also chanted "Vakradunta Mahakaya" stotram.
- Then We sang the Bhajans that we learnt from previous classes. Atmarama Anandaramana" - My prayer book page 143. We noticed many of them now familiar with the Bhajan. Need little more practice. We have asked them to practice at home too.
- Also we chanted Guru Stotram the 1st Verse. "Akhanda Mandalakaram". My prayer book page 61. Then we chanted new Stotram about Bhumidevi. "Samudravasane devi Parvatastanamandale" please refer my prayer book page 11 - Stotram 2.
- By then our Guest JCHYK (Divya, Avani and Shreya) showed up to teach the kids today lesson plan.
- JCHYK introduced themselves and kids also introduced themselves. Divya started off with few questions about what they learned so far then moved on to Rama & Sita's marriage ceremony and how King Janaka and Sita felt when Sita was about to leave with Rama.
- They brought Rama Parivar photo to set the stage with gift box for the activity. Avani explained the Gift activity to the kids as what can we give as gift to Rama & Sita who are divine, pure, royal in nature and have everything. Kids shared few thing like lama, bus, flowers, garlands etc., Then she explained since they have everything the one they do not have is bad habits that we have. By giving away our bad habits, Rama & Sita will purify us.
- Avani gave a colorful sheet to all the kids to write something that the kid thinks as bad habit. Our kids were so honest and shared what they had. It was really nice how the little mind thinks. Then they all went to place it in the gift box in front of the Rama parivar photo. Then Avani distributed Hersey's candy bar to all kid as a celebration for Rama & Sita's marriage.
- Then Shreya shared another story of Parasurama. How Rama met Parasurama and during the meet Vishnu's dhanush was shared to Rama from Parasurama including all his tapas power.
- We had a wonderful time with JCHYK and enjoyed it.
- We also played a kind of hot potato game by passing the box with music going on. When music stops who ever had the box have to say a character or place name from Ramayana. Kids tried their best.
- Finally said closing prayer and went to arati.
