Hari OM Parents,
Please find the summary of the last class.
Meeting with Parents:
We had a 15-minute meeting with parents at the beginning of the class. We covered the following topics.
· Goals for 3rd grade
· Structure of the class
· Class etiquette
· Communication resources
Presentation material used during the meeting is sent out in a separate email.
Prayer time:
We started the class by chanting OM 3 times followed by morning prayers - "Sahanaavathu". We continued practicing Guru Stotram, verses 1, 2, 3, and 4. Then learnt verse 5. Children took turns to say verses 1 through 5. Please have kids practice the first 5 verses by reading the stotra from the My Prayers book. Bhagavatham Time:
We did a quick recap of the previous story of Varaha Avatara.
Sage Kashyapa
Sage Kashyapa was a very noble sage. He had a wife called Diti. One day she felt bored and did not want sage Kashyap to do his prayer and meditation. She was acting selfish. The sage wanted to do his usual prayers, but she did not let him. After sometime, she felt bad and went to her husband and asked for forgiveness. Kashyapa told her it was too late and she has to get the fruit for her action. Sage Kashyap told her she did two wrong deeds - she became the victim of her own desire, and she disobeyed her husband. Sage Kashyap told her two sons will be born to her who will be extremely wicked and will hurt innocent people. He added that when the three worlds will no longer be able to bear the deeds of their violence, the Lord will incarnate himself to kill them. Diti was struck with remorse. Fearing that her boys will destroy the world she kept the twin boys for a long time in her tummy, but eventually they were born. They were Hiranyaksha and Hiranyakashipu. Diti did two wrong acts and she got two wrong results. Moral of the story is "As we sow, So shall we reap".
We discussed with few real life examples, how if we do wrong actions, wrong result will come and if we do right actions, right result will come.
Coloring activity:
All students were given Avatara picture of their choice. Kids colored them with lot of enthusiasm and took it home to use it as a bookmark.
Geeta chanting:
We practiced verses 3 and 4 of Geeta chapter 3.
We concluded the class with Aarthi, prayer and the Pledge.
Thanks and warm regards,
Aruna and Subbu
