Hari om Parents,
We started with regular prayers. We picked up from our last class whose fault it is?
" There was a poisonous snake out to hunt for its prey. Just then an eagle swooped on it and carried it into the skies. As the snake struggled, it spit out poisonous venom. As this was going on in the skies, there was a village woman carrying a pot of curd covered with a large leaf to nearby festivities. There was a strong wind that blew open the leaf covering the pot and just then the poison from the skies landed in the pot of curd. All the people who ate the curd in the festivities died."
Continuing our theme of Karma - Cause & Effect. Every cause has an effect And every effect has a cause. In this case, who caused the death of so many people?
This problem was posed to the class and a lot of different answers came - Eagle, Snake, Wind, the village woman etc.
The story continues:
"
This problem perplexed people of the kingdom and also Yama. Yama is the god of death and also god of Dharma.
Dharma got confused too. So, they approached Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu smiled and said please attribute all the karma for that action to Him.
"
The cause and effect cycle always has you. Any bad action may carry bad experiences in after life And a good action may carry good experiences in after life. Once the 'tokens' for the good after life are over then you are back to this cycle. There is no winning here!
So, how do you come out of this cycle? The trick is Nishkama Karma - Work without any attachments to the desires for results". Each of us has a duty/Dharma to perform. There is no concept of a universal right or wrong action. Right or wrong action is based on what Dharma you have to follow. Continue doing your duty per your Dharma without any attachments to desires for the results and eventually we can come out of this cycle of good or bad.
This state is called enlightenment. This state is considered to be a state of eternal bliss. Bliss is not happiness obtained from our sense organs. This is extrasensory in the same way deep sleep is relaxing. We do not 'feel' the relaxation when we are in deep sleep.
