Hari Om Dear Parents,
Here is the update of our Jan 27th balavihar session.
We started our class by greeting the students followed by Likhita Japa , Opening Prayers and chanting / practicing Geeta Dhyanam.
In the last class we discussed a few characters from Mahabharata and classified them as Dharmic and Adharmic. The focus of this class was to understand the roadmap to becoming a dharmic person. We discussed the three key cornerstone attributes of Satyam (courage of conviction), brahmacharya (control of sense organs), and ahimsa (non-injury) for being a dharmic person and explain how this not only applies to individuals but also to the communities we live in and at national level too.
We then discussed of how these attributes are discipline of the 3 instruments we all have
· For body—the discipline of brahmacharya
· For Mind—the discipline of ahimsa
· For Intellect—the discipline of satyam
We then discussed the concept of self control as it applies to the five senses (sight, hearing, taste, touch and smell) of the body and related to things they do in their daily life. We also related this to how this is seen in nature as well - Things look great when everything is in control but no one likes nature being in excess (nature's fury). Same is the case with our behavior and sense control as well.
We concluded this discussion by narrating a story 'Dad's Brownie' which highlighted the need for sense control and how it applies to them as well. We plan to continue this deeper dive discussion on the brahmacharya and Satyam in the next class.
We followed Swamiji on Tv and chanted Geeta chanting verses 15 and 16. We then concluded the class with Closing prayers, followed by Aarti and Pledge in the assembly hall.
Next Class : Feb 3rd 2023
Thanks and Hari Om
