Hari om parents,
Happy New Year! To all of you. Below is the summary of our class on 1/8/23 -
1. We started our class with 3 OM's and the beginning prayers followed by shlokas for Lord Ganesha, Devi Saraswati & our Gurus.
2. We reviewed all the stories and their connections. Recap took some time as we were meeting after the holidays.
3. Story & Question - Where is heaven?
Once Lord Vishnu decided to have a party in heaven & everyone was invited. Heavenly a banquet was served and the Lord announced ,"Please, eat to your heart's content, but you cannot bend your elbows!". Some people left the party grumbling and some enjoyed themselves.
What will you do if you are invited to a party in heaven by the lord and such a condition is kept. We asked the kids and got a lot of different answers. Some said they won't go, some said we would help others feed and they can help us so we can all enjoy the awesome food. The answer that I loved the most was that I will go to the party because i get to meet bhagwan, it doesn't matter if I don't get to eat. Absolutely loved the thought. Wow, 8 year olds amazed me with their answers.
4. Meditation - We did a 3 minute meditation with the marbles.
5. A simple experiment - We asked one of the kids to close their eyes and gave them a few objects to touch just for a few seconds and quickly asked the kid with closed eyes to guess. Some guesses were right and some were not. When our view is limited, we cannot understand the complete picture.
6. Brainstorming - A simple question is where is heaven ? Heaven is where we are and so is hell. We ourselves make heaven and hell by our own thoughts and actions in every situation. Remember, we have a choice to choose the attitude and behavior that we keep in every situation. Choose to see oneness, choose to love all & create heaven around you.
So, heaven for some kids was riding in Tesla, reading a fav book, playing video games, sleeping etc. And kids wanted to know where or what is heaven for parents? So they got themselves some homework!
