Hari OM Parents,

Prayer time:

Recap of previous class
We did a quick recap of previous class topics including three gunas, story of Sati and attitude of gratitude.
Story time – Mind, the Genie
Through the story of Narayana Das and genie, we learnt that our mind is like genie. We must keep it busy and use it properly, then we accomplish great things. Otherwise, if it is left idle, it can get into mischief and even destroy us completely. Just like the bamboo pole in the story, Lord's name is our bamboo pole. When the mind is idle, send it up and down the bamboo pole... chant the Lord's name or think about him. When there is work, engage with full concentration.
Bhagavatham Story Time - Dhruva:
Kids watched the story of Dhruva and discussed it. Manu's son King Uttanapada had two queens Suniti and Suruchi. Dhruva was Suruchi's son and Uttama was Suniti's son. King liked Suniti and always lived with her. When Dhruva was a child of five years of age, once he saw Uttama sitting on his father's lap and ran to kind and tried to sit on his lap. Suruchi, scolded young Dhruva for his efforts to sit on his father's lap. When Dhruva protested and asked if he could not be allowed to sit on his father's lap, Suruchi berated him saying, 'Go ask god to be born in my womb. Only then will you have the privilege'. Dhruva was determined to hear of his fate from the Lord himself. Dhruva went to the forest to meditate and see God. Sage Narada asked Dhruva to meditate constantly on the Lord's name "Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya". Dhruva stood on one foot and prayed Dhruva started his meditation and went without food and water for six months. Lord Vishnu pleased with his bhakthi and appeared before Dhruva and granted his wishes. To accomplish anything, we must be like Dhruva, firm in our resolve.
We played a word wall quiz to reflect upon Dhruva's story.
Geeta chanting:
We practiced verses 7 and 8 of Geeta chapter 3.
We concluded the class with Aarthi, prayer and the Pledge.
Thanks and warm regards,
