Hari Om Parents!
Here is the Summary of what we covered in the past two Balavihar class(5th Mar and 12th Mar):
- We started the class with opening prayer. We chanted 3 OMs and Sahana Vavatu.
- We also chanted Vakratunda Mahakaya, Saraswati namastubhyam and Guru Brahma shlokas.
- We sang Atmarama AnandaRamana and we completed the remaining lines in the Bhajan. Please refer to the My Prayers Book - Page 143 and have them sing to you.
- We chanted the Guru Stotram - Verse 1, 2 & 3 verses- refer My prayers Book page 61. Please have them practice.
- Did yoga and meditation
- Continued our Ramayana story of How Rama and Lakshmana were sad when they found Sita was missing and they started to search around Ashram and near by forest area. When they started to go deeper inside the forest along the pampa river they met with a Demon named Kabanda who had no head and leg. he had one eye which was in the chest and mouth was in stomach area due to one Sage curse. When Kabanda lifted Rama & Lakshmana, they cut his arms which made him lose strength and fell down. When he fell down he told Rama and Lakshmana that he was celestial being and cursed by a Sage. Now with Rama's visit he gets liberation and he jumped into fire to leave this world. Before that he gave the direction to Rama and Lakshmana to go along the pampa River south side to meet with Sabari then go to meet with Sugreeva in Rshyamuka parvatham.
- We played a game about "how holding too many things for ourselves is not good" by spreading items and had the two kids to walk with one leg of each other support to pick and hold all the things in their hand. Kids had fun playing.
- Rama & Lakshmana met with Sabari the aged lady who showed the hospitality and love to both them by her seva and offered dry fruits to them. Then she happily left the world by entering the fire and went to the higher world.
- This week we continued the story of meeting Hanuman near Rshyamuka mountain and Rama praised Hanuman's communication skills and told Lakshmana " see Lakshmana only person who is well versed in 4 vedas and shastras can speak like this. I haven't seen anyone before speaking like this".
- Then Hanuman took both brothers to Sugreeva and each greeted and shared the stories. Also they made an agreement that they help each other.
- By that agreement Sugreeva went fight with Vali and on the 2nd day Vali was killed by Rama from behind the tree. The reason being Vali had a boon that when he fights he gains 1/2 of the opponent power which will make him more powerful than the other person. When Vali was defeated Vali asked Rama why he killed him behind the tree. Rama explained how Vali was unfair to Sugreeva and his wife. Vali also slowly realized who Rama was and asked Rama to liberate from this life. He blessed him.
- Then Rama made Sugreeva as a king to Kishkinda. By that time rainy season came so Rama and Lakshmana had to wait until rainy season is over before they start search for Sita. We stopped there and went to arati.
- We talked about the year end performance to the kids and told them to think of characters that they want to play.
