We started the class by our daily prayers and Ganesh Pancharatnam and Nirvana Shatakam. We completed learning the verses 4,5,6 of Nirvana shatakam.
We discussed Ugadi, the New Year which is celebrated in southern parts of India, which was celebrated on Wednesday 23rd March, we spoke about the importance of it.
Ugadi- Yuga(new)+ Aadi(Beginning). This year is called sobhakrut naama. Ugadi pachadi consists of 6 flavours(Spice(red chillie),Salt,Tangy(tamarind juice),Sweet(Jaggery),Bitter(Neem Leaves),Sour(raw mango)). We continued on the topic India the sacred land,about the contributions of our ancient historians to the society.
Universities were established in India.
1)Takshasila- Chanakya, the master of Arthashastra, Panin, the scholar of Sanskrit, Acharya Charaka, the master of medicine resided in Takshasila. This was located in current Pakistan.
2) Nalanda- This University is located in Bihar. This university was founded by Acharya SankarAditya.
Astronomy: - way before western world discovered Earth was round, gravity is the cause of people walking and moving on earth. Bhaskara Acharya, discussed gravity in his work, Surya Siddhanta.
Medicine:-
Ayurveda- Acharya Chakra Samhita
Surgery- Susruta is regarded as the father of surgery, he performed the first surgery. Susruta Samhita has about 300 different types of surgeries. using 125 different types of instruments designed from animal and bird jaw bones. He conducted surgeries like Cataract,artificial limbs, cesareans, fractures to name a few.
Few more geniuses of India are Arya Bhatta,Acharya Chakra,Acharya Bharadvaja,Rishi Baskaraacharya and Acharya Patanjali.
We learnt about different forms of Yoga, we did Surya namaskar along with reciting the mantra for each posture which is given at the end of Balavihar notebook.
We concluded with our Gita chanting by learning new verses 28,29,30. As in temple we had special
