Hari Om Parents!
Here is the Summary of what we covered in the past two Balavihar class(19th Mar and 26th Mar):
- We started the class with opening prayer. We chanted 3 OMs and Sahana Vavatu.
- We also chanted Vakratunda Mahakaya, Saraswati namastubhyam and Guru Brahma shlokas.
- We sang Atmarama AnandaRamana and we completed the remaining lines in the Bhajan. Please refer to the My Prayers Book - Page 143 and have them sing to you.
- We chanted the Guru Stotram - Verse 1, 2 & 3 verses- refer My prayers Book page 61. Please have them practice.
- Did yoga and meditation
- Continued our Ramayana story: After the rain season, Sugriva did not show up to help Rama. Hence Lakshmana went to meet with Sugriva to remind him of the agreement. When Lakshmana went to Sugriva place, Sugriva was in a condition he did not pay attention to what's happening around him. Hanuman ji explained & reminded him of his promise to Rama to help Search Sita. That's when Sugriva came to his senses and sent Vanara's in all 4 directions to search. The very talented Vanara's like Hanuman, Angada and Jambavan to Mahendra mountain direction to search sita. When they were sitting and talking in Mahendra mountain, one old Vulture named Sampati came to them said did I hear name Jatayu ? What happened to him? He is my brother and when he heard how Jatayu was brave to fight against Ravana to protect Sita and died. Even though he was sad of losing his brother later he also helped them by affirming that he saw Raksasa carrying a lady. Then he looked across the ocean to see Lanka and told them he can see Sita sitting in a garden sad and surrounded by Raksasas.
- Jambavan told Hanuman you are the powerful one in the team who can fly to Lanka to check.
- Hanuman humbly accepted and got ready to fly. When he crossed the ocean he came across 3 different challenges like Mainaka mountain asking him to rest, Surasa stopping him to challenging him to enter in her mouth and finally Simhika dragging him down. Hanuman ji handled all with his intelligence and power to land in Lanka.
- Search began and he searched inch by inch and finally went to Ravana's palace to search Sita. When he saw the courtyard with garden outside he went there to search Sita. When he found a elegant lady sitting alone in under Asoka tree, he said to himself that must be our Sitama. But I can't appear in front her like this as she will be scared. So hid himself to claimed the tree and sat on top till dusk.
- We stopped there and went to Arati.
- Last class we played Hot potato with different questions from Ramayana we learnt so far.
- This class we learnt the Treta yuga (Ramayana time) distance measurement called "Yojana" and equivalent mile and KM in current distance measurement. Kids were excited to do Math with that. 1 Yojana = 8 miles ; 1 Yojana = 12.4 Km.
