Hari Om Parents!
The past Sunday (30th Oct) was our 5th class of Balavihar for 2022-2023!
Here is the summary of what we covered in class:
1. We started the class with the Opening prayer. We chanted Om three times and then chanted "Sahana vavatu".
2. We also chanted "Vakradunta Mahakaya" stotram.
3. We explained the kids why they were wearing Red dress from Balavihar House theme standpoint. We also explained the 4 houses and their names.
4. Then We sang the Bhajan that we learnt from previous class. "Atmarama Anandaramana" - My prayer book page 143. We repeated word by word to familiarize the bhajan.
5. Also we learnt newly Guru Stotram the 1st Verse. "Akhanda Mandalakaram". My prayer book page 61. We repeated word by word to familiarize it.
6. We recapped what we learnt so far using "I Spy" game using Ramayana coloring sheets book to show what we spy and who are the characters from each story. Some kids remembered the names some needed more help. Overall it was a good refresher for them.
7. Then we continued the story of Viswamitra giving the Divine missile to Rama and Lakshmana and taught them the mantras for launching and revoking the weapons.
8. As they progressed towards the forest to Mithila city, while crossing an abandoned ashram Rama was curious who lived there. Viswamitra shared Ahalya's story of how she became stone and her penance to purify herself through Rama's blessings. As Rama walked through the Ashram by his presence, she came back to life purified and lived happily with Sage Gautama. Moral of story was highlighted to the kids: sometime as human we make mistake which is ok. But realizing, correcting ourselves and not repeating are the important aspects of it.
9. Will continue the next sequence of Ramayana in the next class.
10. We wrapped up the class with Om Purnamadah and lined up to go Aarti hall to join House inauguration activity.
