Nov 20, 2022 - Grade 9 (Sunday AM)

Hari om Parents,

We started with our regular prayers.

This day the classes will be taken by Jchks - students from grades 10, 11 and 12 in chinmaya ashram. We discussed the concept of manifest / unmanifest before handing over the class to the jchks.

Birth and rebirth seem confusing. How can something just appear out of nothing and then disappear into nothing. More confusing is the vasanas or tendencies that, we believe, get carried from one life to another. How can something get carried from one life to another when there is nothing in between these two states? Unless, there is something in between.

A related example is with electricity and a light bulb. If there is no light bulb does it mean that there is no electricity? Changing the bulbs does not mean changing the electricity.
Bulb is the manifestation of electricity as light. Any other appliance, similarly, uses electricity and manifests it in different ways.

Similarly, this birth is a manifestation. The state between birth is the unmanifest state.
Bhagwad geeta chapter 2 verse 28 says:

अव्यक्तादीनि भूतानि व्यक्तमध्यानि भारत ।
अव्यक्तनिधनान्येव तत्र का परिदेवना ॥ २-२८॥
avyaktādīni bhūtāni vyaktamadhyāni bhārata
avyaktanidhanānyeva tatra kā paridevanā
Beings unmanifest in the beginning, and unmanifest again in their end seem to be manifest in the middle, O Bharata. What then is there to grieve about?

The tendencies or vasanas get carried into the unmanifest state till it finds an expression in the next birth. The vasans influence our actions and our actions/thoughts reinforce the vasanas. We are caught in this cycle that we discussed in the last class. And the only way out of this is by doing "Nishkama Karma".

We then handed the class to jchks who covered Vedas and the different section of Vedas. They did a good job with the topics and kept students engaged. They played a game. Sharing some pictures and videos here - jchks teaching
