Mar 26, 2023 - Kindergarten (Sunday AM)

Hari Om Parents,

Today was the nineteenth class of Balavihar!!  Here is the summary of what we covered in the class today:

Opening Prayers:  We together chanted three OMs and then chanted the Opening Prayers - Sahana Vavatu. 

Shloka time: We recited below Hanuman slokas :

Manojavaṁ mārutatulyavegaṁ

jitendriyaṁ buddhimatāṁ variṣṭha ।
vātātmajaṁ vānarayūthamukhyaṁ
śrīrāmadūtaṁ śaraṇaṁ prapadye

Buddhir Balam Yasho Dhairyam
Nirbhayatvam Arogataam
Ajaaddyam Vaak Pattutvam Ca
Hanumat Smarannaat Bhavet 

Recap:  We did the Alphabet chant together until the Letter 'U'. And briefly discussed U is for Unity.

Introduction of the Next Letter: For today's class and last week's class, we had planned to cover 3 letters : U , V and W as conceptually they co-relate to each other.

So introduced the next letter of the day V is for Victory- is when you attain your goal. To be victorious, work hard and always speak the truth. And we discussed small and big goals and how kids can be victorious. 

And also, introduced the next letter W - Work is effort directed to produce or accomplish something. And that Dreaming about something will not get us what we want. We have to work hard to be rewarded.

Brainstorming: We discussed a few day-to-day scenarios where hard work helps and gets us what we want. And if you want something, you have to make the effort. No one else can do it for you.

Exploration: We learnt about the Emblem of India and what it represents and the inscription states 'Satyameva Jayate - Truth alone Triumphs'.

Storytime:  Through the story of The Ant and The Grasshopper - we learnt that we must work hard in order to play and enjoy. Few kids knew this story, so they recited some portions of the story.

Yoga time: Stretching exercises, Jumping Jacks, Some dance poses.

Attendance: was taken by each kid saying 'Hari Om' when their name was called out.

It was another very collaborative session with kids. And then we joined the Prayer hall for Grade 3 play.

On Saturday March 25th at 7pm, we had the Parent Teacher Meeting on zoom, It was a great discussion and good to see some of the parents and hear from them their kid's progress.
